Scar Revision Houston
Accidents happen. Surgery is needed. While no one hopes to get a scar, it will happen anytime the skin and underlying tissue is damaged. A displeasing scar may form if the wound was from a trauma, healed poorly, becomes infected, is stretched (too much tension) at closure, or lies in a position against the natural creases of the face (called relaxed skin tension lines). The results may cause a scar that is raised, depressed, large, oddly shaped, or different in color and texture from the surrounding skin.
Although a scar can never be erased completely, a scar revision will minimize a scar so that it is less conspicuous and blends in with the surrounding skin tone and texture. An ideal scar is thin and flat, has a good color match with the surrounding skin, is oriented along the natural creases of the face (relaxed skin tension lines RSTLs), and does not produce any distortion of adjacent tissues.
Your options include:
- Topical treatments
- Laser resurfacing
- Revision surgery with improved wound closure, better orientation, and/or hiding in crease of face
